The Chad Valley Hippo Sand Pit is a favourite amongst little ones aged twelve (12) and over! Fill the cute Hippo (Capacity 60 l. W71, D34cm. Weight 3.25kg. Max 30kg) with play sand and watch in joy as your most cherished delights in exploration. The lid of the Hippo easily lifts off to reveal ample space for sand, water or play balls, there are a wide of alternatives depending on what little ones fancy! When kids have worn themselves out just pop the lid back on to protect the contents from animals or bad weather. Remember this is only to be used in water where the child is within its depth and under adult supervision.

4/5  ShoppersJoy007 'I bought this for my granddaughter several weeks ago and it has been getting a lot of use. It's a fun design, not too big but large enough for her to play the way she wants to. It's a shame that the lid isn't a bit more sturdy. I've ready other comments about the lid blowing off, but have found that if you secure with masking tape after use, the lid seems to stay on even on windy days.'

Nice bright colour only thing is the plastic is slightly Thin in some areas making it weak. It's new and already have a little split in one side.'

5/5  Lauren1987 'Can be used as a sand pit or paddle pool. The cover is lightweight so put a brick on top on when not in use. It will take 3 bags of 15kg wet sand to fill it to a desired level without it being too full. If you want to cause less mess 2 bags of 15kg wet sand will make it less than half way. I used the 3 bags of 15kg wet sand and filled it above half way without it being full. It just depends on how much sand you desire.'

Disappointing for a new item. I only accepted it as it was to use at home and not for a special present.'

Purchased for our 2 toddlers, they definitely can't fit in it at the same time comfortably, so either have to take turns or sit around the outside of it to build sandcastles etc in there. I'd say you needed 2-3 15kg bags of sand to fill it (I'd recommend 3 as kids tend to knock a lot it over the edges of course). Like the lid feature as it stops the neighbours cats using it as a giant litter tray.'

The lid is very handy although we do lay the sandpit on large plastic sheeting. When it’s being stored we just pull the plastic over it and put a couple of bricks on top. The lid would otherwise blow away and the paper eyes on the hippo would just come off.'

Bought for 1 year old who can comfortably share with another of similar age inside the hippo. I sit next to the sandpit on a low patio stool and all is well with the arrangement. Bought 3 large Tarmac sandpit sand bags and 2 bags filled it 3/4 of the way. The unopened spare bag is for top up. I place a hand size rock in the dip (hippo neck) which stabilizes the lid. Once month later with daily use, no leaves etc nor rain has entered the sandbox. Happy customer highly recommends this sand pit. Collection was seamless too and received in perfect condition. All good.'
